About ONDA
ONDA (ONDA Coolwaves) is a 2.45GHz microwave device from the Italian manufacturer DEKA. Microwave energy is selectively absorbed by the subcutaneous fat layer and disrupts the membranes of fat cells; the damaged fat is then gradually cleared by macrophages. At the same time, thermal stimulation reaches the dermis and induces collagen regeneration.
How It Works
About 20% of the energy acts on the dermis and about 80% on the subcutaneous fat layer
Contact Cooling
Contact cooling in the handpiece (approx. 5°C) protects the epidermis while the deeper layers are heated.
2.45GHz microwave energy passes through the skin and reaches the subcutaneous fat layer.
Energy selectively absorbed in the subcutaneous fat layer disrupts the membranes of fat cells.
The damaged fat is gradually cleared by macrophages.
At the same time, thermal stimulation delivered to the dermis induces collagen regeneration and helps improve firmness.
Positioning
Treatments differ in the type of energy they use and the layer they mainly act on
When reduced firmness and localized fat occur together, ONDA is one option to consider. Microwaves act on both the subcutaneous fat layer and the dermis.
When there is reduced firmness without subcutaneous fat, HIFU or RF treatments are considered. Which treatment is suitable is decided during a medical consultation.
| Feature | ONDA | HIFU treatments | RF treatments |
|---|---|---|---|
| Type of energy | Microwave (2.45GHz) | Focused ultrasound | Radiofrequency (RF) |
| Main target layer | Subcutaneous fat layer + dermis | Fascial (SMAS) layer · dermis | Dermis |
| Anesthesia | Not required | Varies by treatment | Varies by treatment |
This table summarizes differences in the type of energy and the layers each treatment acts on; it does not imply that one treatment is superior to another. Which treatment is suitable is decided during a medical consultation, based on your skin condition and goals.
Treatment Time
Face (cheeks · jawline)
Approx. 15-30 min
Body (per area)
Approx. 10 min
Total treatment time varies with the areas treated and how many areas are covered.
LIV Difference
Board-certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons handle everything from consultation to treatment.
Which areas of the face or body to treat, at what intensity, and how many sessions to plan are decided during a medical consultation, based on the area and your skin condition.
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, a pacemaker or metal implants in the body, and inflammation or infection in the treatment area are all checked in the pre-treatment interview.
Treatment Process
Check skin and subcutaneous fat condition, decide the treatment areas
Remove makeup and prepare the skin
Mark the treatment area and prepare for the session
Area-by-area treatment with the microwave handpiece
Settle the treated area and explain aftercare

No anesthesia required
Downtime
No downtime (return to daily life right after the treatment)
Onset of Results
Appears gradually over 4-12 weeks (varies by individual)
